Statement on Fire Safety
Published: 15 Jun 2017
We offer our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and have been affected by the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower. Redbridge Council has 18 housing blocks above 5 stories and we have fire risk assessments in place for all our housing stock including the taller blocks. We will be carrying out a review of these along with reviewing our fire compartmentation reports, which relate to restricting the spread of fires within buildings. We will also following any additional guidance from London Fire Brigade, who we work closely with to ensure our properties meet fire safety guidelines.
London Fire Brigade advise that people who live in high rise properties or purpose built flats and maisonettes, aside from having a working smoke alarm and taking fire safety precautions, should make sure that they know their escape plan and what to do if there is a fire inside your home or somewhere else in the building.
