The Annual Canvass
Each year the Electoral Registration Officer must conduct an annual canvass to ensure the electoral register is accurate and complete.
All households in Redbridge will receive communication from the council asking residents to check that the information held on the electoral register for their address is correct.
If we do not receive a response to the communication and information is still required from your household, one of our electoral registration canvassers may visit your address to collect the required information. If there is no answer when they visit your address, they will leave one of our ‘Household Voter Registration’ calling cards. Please respond as soon as possible, as the canvasser may have to visit again if a prompt response is not received.
What type of communication can I expect?
If an email address is held for a person registered in your household you will receive a communication by email.
If no email addresses are held for your household you will receive a paper version of the form via post and/or a personal visit from an Electoral Registration Canvasser.
All the details are correct, what do I need to do?
Please read the form carefully and take action as required. You may need to respond even if all the information on the letter is correct.
The details are incomplete or need amending, what do I need to do?
Please make any amendments using the online form by entering the security codes provided on the communication.
I am currently registered to vote but would like to vote by post in future, instead of at a polling station. What do I need to do?
To apply to vote by post please visit the Government website.
If you do not have access to a printer you can email the Electoral Team providing your name and address so that we can post a form to you.
I'm listed on the form but my name has changed, what do I need to do?
If your name has changed, you can scan and email a copy of your change of name document, deed poll or marriage certificate to the Electoral Team.
Registering to vote
Please note that the household communications are not registration forms. Anyone new added to the household will also need to register individually online.
