Notice of marriage/civil partnership at Redbridge Town Hall

When you give notice of marriage/civil partnership, the room where the marriage will take place has to be stated in the notice. You must choose which of the rooms you are going to use before you can give notice. You can contact register.office@redbridge.gov.uk to book a room.

Length of notice of marriage/civil partnership

For most marriages or civil partnerships, you must give at minimum of 28 clear days' notice at your local register office. The notice lasts for 12 months.  If you are subject to immigration control, your notice will be automatically referred to the Home Office. They have the right to extend it to 70 days.

The Register Office is only available for marriages and civil partnerships.

The Register Office is for the couple plus their two witnesses only.

The room is a working office environment. It is designed for use if you want a very simple ceremony (NO flowers, personal vows, readings or music), or perhaps if you are also having a main event/religious ceremony at a venue which is not licensed or approved for ceremonies.

If you opt for a marriage, you will be required to exchange statutory vows as part of a brief ceremony.  If you opt for a civil partnership,  you will be required to sign a declaration.  Please note that these are legal stipulations
