Naming ceremonies
A naming ceremony is a special way to welcome your baby or child into your family and community. It can be for children of all ages.
The ceremony has no legal status. It does not include any religious parts.
If you want to have a religious ceremony you should contact your local church or religious community.
You can choose to have family and friends promise to help and support your child as they grow.
If you’re having a naming ceremony for a baby, you must have registered your child's birth before booking your ceremony.
You’ll receive a certificate to commemorate your ceremony.
Where to have your ceremony?
You can have your ceremony anywhere you choose to.
You do not have to live in Redbridge to book a naming ceremony with us.
You can have your ceremony at Redbridge Town Hall in the Roding Room or Library Suite. You do not need to book a celebration official (registrar) if your ceremony takes place here.
You can choose to have your ceremony at a licensed ceremony venue in Redbridge. You’ll need to book a celebration official (registrar).

If you need to cancel or change a booking

You’ll need to contact us.
You must let us know at least 60 days’ before the ceremony date to get a full refund. It can be either you or your partner that tells us.
Change the date
You’ll need to contact us.
You must give us at least 30 days’ notice. You’ll need to pay a £55 fee to change the date.
