Business Rates text messaging service

About the text messaging service

If your Business Rate account falls into arrears we may send a text message or email before taking further recovery action. We may also follow up with a phone call if no payment is made. This service can prevent statutory recovery documents from being issued and may help you avoid paying additional costs.

It is your responsibility to maintain the instalment plan shown on your bill. If you do not do so further recovery action will be taken.  The service is offered to prevent customers from falling further into arrears itt should not be relied upon and might not always be available.

Who sends the text messages

We send the text messages and will show as “LBRedbridge”. They will contain a short URL using https://rev.redbridge.gov.uk,   The service is confidential, and your mobile number will not be shared with third parties. You will not get any other marketing messages on your phone. 

The email will be sent using donotrespond@info.redbridge.gov.uk and will contain the last 4 numbers of your account number. 

If you fail to act on the SMS or Email then we may contact you by phone.  This phone call will give you the option to press 1 and speak to an officer who will be able to take a payment from you. 

This authority is under a duty to protect the public funds it administers, and to this end may use the information you have provided for the prevention and detection of fraud. It may also share this information with other bodies responsible for auditing or administering public funds for these purposes.

How it works

If we already have your contact number or email you will be signed up for this service automatically. If we don’t have your number or your number has changed and you would like to receive this service, please email Business.Rates@redbridge.gov.uk.
