Carers discount
You may qualify for a discount if you're a carer.
Who can apply
To be considered a carer, you need to meet the following conditions:
- you live in the same home as the person you provide care for
- the person you care for must not be your spouse, partner or child under 18
- you must be providing care for at least 35 hours a week on average
The person you care for must be entitled to certain benefits:
- Attendance Allowance (lower or higher rate)
- Disability Living Allowance care component (middle or higher rate)
- Personal Independence Payments daily living component (standard or enhanced)
- An increase in the rate of Disablement Pension
- An increase in constant Attendance Allowance
You do not have to be in receipt of a Carer's Allowance to claim a discount.
How to apply
You'll need:
- your council tax reference number
- evidence of the benefits that the person you care for gets
If your situation changes
You must contact us if the situation for the person you care for changes or you are no longer caring for them.
