Queen's Market
Green Street Upton Park , E13 9BA
Queen’s Market is one of London’s most famous and diverse markets. You can find it right next to Upton Park underground station on vibrant Green Street with its thriving small shops, cafes and restaurants. Up to the turn of the 20th century, the market ran along Green Street. It moved to its present site in 1904. The market is very much part of the local community with events and festivals throughout the year, including an Easter egg hunt, a Santa’s grotto at Christmas, a summer festival and celebrations for Eid and Diwali. It’s popular with chefs and foodies having hosted Jamie Oliver’s Ministry of Food television programme, and been visited by BBC Radio 4’s Food Programme. It’s also been featured in national newspapers and magazines. It’s known worldwide as the former workplace of the £1 Fish Man.
