Check you can join the housing waiting list

You can join the council housing register if:

• you’re 16 years or older
• you’ve lived in Redbridge for over 5 years from the date you applied to join the register
• you earn less than £90,000 per year as a household
• you have a housing need, e.g. you are homeless or unsafe where you live

You cannot join the council housing register if:

• you are significantly behind in your rent
• you have broken the rules of previous tenancy contracts
• you’ve already been placed in temporary accommodation by another council

Applications to join the council housing register will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. If you’re applying for sheltered accommodation, you will not have to meet all the set requirements.
