Residents asked to help shape ambitious plans for future of Fairlop Waters Country Park
Published: 27 April 2021
One of the most popular outdoor locations in Redbridge is asking its residents to help shape its future usage. In September 2020 Fairlop Waters Country Park began its ambitious plans to expand its location by adding another 250 acres of green space to this much-loved local parkland.
Initial ideas from residents included a range of initiatives and improvements to the park. An inclusive playground, wild swimming, natural history walks and better food markets are just some of the ideas local people have suggested. Whilst these may be built into the master planning process, there are opportunities to provide some of these ideas earlier, in anticipation of future changes.
Redbridge Council published its initial findings in its report ‘Our Future Fairlop First Phase Engagement’ following the Engagement Platform Let’s Talk Redbridge which provided an overview following a three-month period of engagement between September and December 2020.
The council is now launching Phase 2 which will take place from April to July 2021 and consist of a series of steps covering these three key areas: development of a vision for Fairlop Waters; appointment of a masterplan consultant; and resident’s ideas for Fairlop Waters.
Sharon Strutt, Head of Regeneration at Redbridge Council commented: “Fairlop Waters is a wonderful park and a place for everyone to enjoy. We want to make sure our plans for the future are designed using the best ideas from our residents throughout the entire process and collaborate and deliver some first-rate improvements and even brand new activities. I would encourage all our local residents to take the time to check our engagement website Let’s Talk Redbridge to find out more and register your interest.”
