Published: 2 September 2024
Redbridge Council has announced a reshuffle of its Cabinet, including a new Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member.
The reshuffle will bring fresh perspectives and expertise to the council's leadership, ensuring it continues to serve the community effectively.
The new Leader of Redbridge, Cllr Kam Rai, will set the political and strategic direction of the council while continuing to lead the Growth and Regeneration portfolio from his time as Deputy Leader. The Leader will enhance Redbridge's profile in London and beyond to attract more inward investment and influence specific policy decisions.
Cllr Vanisha Solanki has been appointed as the new Deputy Leader of Redbridge Council and will also become the Cabinet Member for Finance. In this role, Cllr Solanki will ensure the council manages within its available resources while setting out a longer-term view of its finances.
Redbridge also welcomes a new Cabinet Member. Cllr Saima (Syeda) Ahmed has been appointed the new Housing and Homelessness portfolio holder. Cllr Ahmed will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to address housing issues and homelessness in our community while also working to reduce the amount of money the council is currently spending on temporary housing.
