Redbridge is THE place to discover, in London this summer
Published: 5 August 2024
Following recent investment in attractions and leisure facilities across the borough, Redbridge is fast becoming THE place for families and friends to go, for cultural activities, to share delicious authentic food, and for both leisurely and adrenaline-fuelled days out.
A revamped free children’s farm in Hainault forest, with a brand new cafe, visitor centre, playground, and craft workshops, now offers families an exciting day out, suitable for children of all ages.
Fairlop Waters has become somewhere for older kids to let off steam, with one of the finest bouldering courses in England, high ropes, and watersports such as paddleboarding and sailing to try.
And Ilford is getting national attention. Rocket Padel chose Ilford as the new home of one of the UK’s finest padel tennis centres, which recently hosted the Grade 2 National Tour tournament.
Foodies are now flocking to the town, to try delicious, authentic cuisine from local traders in the brand new food market, Mercato Metropolitano. In the town centre, but not far from Ilford Lane’s buzzing restaurant scene, Mercato has rubber stamped Ilford as a destination for foodies in north east London.
The momentum is rolling. Our parks now have refurbished tennis courts, we’ve invested in new cricket pitches, and we are planning in a new climbing centre, lido, and golf driving range for Redbridge in 2025.
Councillor Kam Rai, Leader of Redbridge Council said, “Redbridge is firmly on the map as the perfect place for families to come for exciting days out, and for people to enjoy authentic restaurants and food markets.
“We’re investing in our borough so local people can enjoy leisure experiences on their doorstep, boosting our local economy and supporting local business.
"Thanks to winning investment and working with partners across the country, we’ve made sure everyone can enjoy the perfect day out right here in Redbridge.”
