Update on recycling and waste collections
Published: 24 August 2024
Redbridge Council has issued the following update concerning recycling and waste collections.
Please accept our apologies for the disruption caused to waste and recycling collections this week. The council has been working hard to facilitate discussions and negotiations between Redbridge Civic Services (RCS) and Unite the Union to get a good offer for the workers and shop stewards and work towards preventing industrial action.
We are pleased that negotiations were successful and the proposed strike was called off. However, due to the time taken for the negotiations, Thursday's bin collections did not start until the afternoon.
Crews have worked extra hours over the past two days but have not managed to catch up. Please leave your waste and recycling out for collection until the crews return on Tuesday morning. Thank you for your continued support and patience in recent weeks.
Please note that collections for next week have been adjusted due to the bank holiday. Please check our handy guide and make a note of your revised bin collection day.
