70,000 toys handed out to children from disadvantaged backgrounds in Britain’s biggest free toy giveaway

Redbridge Council and The Kindness Offensive have joined forces for a monumental cause—distributing seventy thousand brand-new Hasbro toys, including Star Wars Lightsabers, Furby Furblets, Power Rangers, and a selection of board games, to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
A double-decker bus filled with volunteers recently visited Cranbrook Primary School, ready to bring joy to the children's faces. The main hall was a buzz of excitement as nearly 50 children eagerly unwrapped their brand-new toys.
This event was made possible by the combined efforts of Redbridge Council and The Kindness Offensive. The Council's logistical support, resources, and The Kindness Offensive’s event coordination and toy provision have resulted in Britain's largest free toy giveaway. The Kindness Offensive (TKO) is a London-based group that believes in the power of large-scale random acts of kindness. They are known for orchestrating events like this, where they distribute industrial quantities of goods to unsuspecting members of the public and charities, spreading joy and kindness wherever they go.
Nearly 900 Cranbrook Primary School pupils received a free toy. The remainder of the toys have been distributed to local Children's Centres in the borough and children’s charity groups affiliated with the Council.
Cllr Kam Rai, The Leader of Redbridge Council, said: "I extend my heartfelt thanks to David, his team, and our council officers for their tremendous and tireless work in making this event happen. Their efforts in securing these free toys to distribute to our young children in Redbridge are truly incredible.
“I'm sure the children will always have fond and warm memories of this day when they get older. Brilliant projects like this are worth their weight in gold because they ensure that some of our most disadvantaged children experience the spirit and magic of Christmas.”
“This is an incredible initiative; however, if residents want to get involved in making their own donations, the Reach Out service accepts donations of toys for children impacted by domestic violence all year round, as well as donations of essentials for victims and survivors rebuilding their lives. More information can be found on our website and social media”.
David Goodfellow, Founder of the Kindness Offensive, said: “First and foremost, my special thanks go to the wonderful teachers at Cranbrook Primary School for being such fantastic hosts. The atmosphere at the event was absolutely electric, and we all had such a great time bringing some joy to the faces of these adorable young children. It also wouldn’t have been possible without the help and cooperation of Redbridge Council, who pulled out all the stops to make this event happen. This week’s toy giveaway was a huge logistical exercise with many moving parts, so we’re really pleased that it has been a resounding success.”
Rachel Kaye, Deputy Headteacher at Cranbrook Primary School, said: “It was wonderful to see the children looking in awe as they spotted the hundreds of presents in the room. We sincerely thank The Kindness Offensive for giving some of our most vulnerable children a day they will always cherish and have such fond memories of.”
