Published: 21 January 2023

The Coronation of King Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as King and Queen of the United Kingdom is set to take place on Saturday, 6 May 2023.

A Bank Holiday across the United Kingdom has been proclaimed in honour of the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, falling on Monday 8 May 2023.

As demonstrated by the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, street parties are a great way to celebrate historical events and get to know your neighbours, generating community spirit and neighbourhood fun. Hopefully, the Council, with the help of residents, will build upon the success of the 2022 Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

You can now apply to host a street party so you can enjoy this momentous occasion in style with your loved ones and neighbours. Street parties are a great way to get to know your neighbours, generating community spirit and neighbourhood fun. You can apply to host a street party on any day of the special bank holiday weekend.

The Council will again relax many of the usual rules and will not charge residents for road closures to celebrate this special occasion. Further details will feature on the Council's website as plans develop.

The deadline for receiving applications is Wednesday 1 March 2023.

Let's get the party started now!
