Redbridge Council has released a powerful short film highlighting how it is tackling crime and making the borough safer for residents.

The film, narrated by the Leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr Jas Athwal, details the steps taken by Redbridge Council to listen to residents' concerns and take action to reduce crime, antisocial behaviour and harassment.

The issue of Women's safety is central to the short film, which captures one of Redbridge Council's Women's Safety Walks. A series of walks was organised by the council over the last year where local women and girls walk through different parts of the borough with police and council officers to share their views on safety and suggest ways to improve problem areas.

Making Redbridge a safer place is the number priority for Redbridge Council, and the video highlights measures taken to crack down on crime and antisocial behaviour, including:

  • Launching two Enforcement Hubs for dual use by police and Council Enforcement Teams
  • Launching a Mobile Enforcement Hub and a CCTV Challenger Vehicle to be deployed around the Borough as needed
  • Increasing the borough's CCTV coverage following an investment of £1.5m
  • Launching Women's Safety Walks with council officers and Police to identify places in the Borough where women feel unsafe and take action

The Leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr Jas Athwal, said: ""We all deserve to feel safe on our streets and that's why Redbridge Council is tackling crime head-on. We're working with Police, Council Enforcement Officers and our local communities to make our neighbourhoods safer so that we can all go about our business without the fear of crime."
