Pop in to meet Redbridge police in the borough's libraries
Published: 13 July 2022
When Redbridge residents pop in to their local library in the coming weeks, they might be surprised to be greeted with a friendly smile by a small team of community police officers.
In a positive new development for communities in Redbridge, Redbridge police officers will be available Monday to Friday in five of the borough's libraries from 4pm to 7pm to address residents' concerns.
Residents can meet face-to-face with Redbridge police officers, who will set up shop once a week in five of the borough's libraries.
The new pop-up hubs are located in:
- Woodford Green Library – Monday
- Goodmayes Library - Tuesday
- Wanstead Library – Wednesday
- South Woodford Library – Thursday
- Gants Hill Library – Friday
Woodford Police Station was closed to the public in 2013. Barkingside Police Station was closed to the public in 2017.
Cllr Khayer Chowdhury, Cabinet Member for Crime, Safety and Community Cohesion, said: "Residents consistently complain about not being able to meet the police face-to-face to discuss local issues. Working with our police partners, we now provide spaces where residents can meet their Neighbourhood Policing Teams. Please pop into your local libraries and meet your police teams."
