The Leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr Jas Athwal and Cllr Vanisha Solanki, Cabinet Member for Housing and Homelessness, recently visited the Marlyon Road site, where 48 homes have recently been completed and handed over to families as part of the - Affordable Homes Programme.

The programme is part of the council’s commitment to providing 600 new high-quality, affordable council homes for local people by 2024 on existing council-owned sites across the borough, having secured £20 million from the Greater London Authority, Building Homes for London grant.

Both the Leader and Councillor Solanki spent the day meeting those who’ve recently moved into their new homes, as well a tour of the site and the recently completed work, which now comprises 81 units in total, including a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom properties.

The Leader, Cllr Jas Athwal, said, “I’m delighted with the work that has taken place on Marlyon Road to date. Completing these homes means we remain on track to meeting our targets, but more importantly, providing families with quality affordable homes they can be proud of”.

Cllr Vanisha Solanki said “The Affordable Homes Programme is the council’s biggest and most ambitious programme. I was pleased to meet both families and individuals who have benefitted from the from the work that has taken place on the Marlyon Road site. I look forward to following the progress of the programme and making good on our promise to providing quality homes for those who are most in need”.
