Redbridge Council & Police work together to tackle antisocial behaviour
Published: 28 May 2022
On Wednesday 25 May, Redbridge Council Enforcement Officers conducted a joint operation with Police to tackle antisocial behaviour at hotspots in the borough.
Officers targeted high-visibility patrols in Ilford Town Centre, Gants Hill and Barkingside, accompanied by an outreach worker to provide advice and guidance to potentially vulnerable residents.
The successful Operation Yamhill included a full weapons sweep in Valentines Park supported by Redbridge’s brand new park patrol service, ParkGuard, and the seizure of a high quantity of Cannabis sweets and over 500 non-compliant vaping products.
As part of the operation, the Police made two arrests for intent to supply Class B drugs and issued two Community Protection Notices as a direct result of residents' reports.
Cabinet Member for Crime, Safety and Community Cohesion, Cllr Khayer Chowdhury, said, “Having spoken to my neighbours, I understand how antisocial behaviour can impact people’s lives.
Redbridge is our home, and we all deserve to feel safe here. As a council, we will not tolerate crime and antisocial behaviour on our streets and are working closely with Police and other partners, including our new park patrol team, keeping our borough safe for local people.
Reporting crime and antisocial behaviour to the Police makes a huge difference, helping Police to identify hotspots and then target patrols in those locations.”
