Claire Hamilton appointed Chief Executive at London Borough of Redbridge

Claire Hamilton, a Redbridge resident and current Chief Executive at Dacorum Borough Council, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive for the London Borough of Redbridge following a rigorous recruitment process.
Claire will start her role in March 2025 and brings over 29 years of experience in the public sector, specialising in leading high-performing teams and delivering complex regeneration projects. She joined Dacorum Borough Council during the pandemic in 2020 where she drove a significant transformation agenda.
Claire was previously Director of the Harlow & Gilston Garden Town, a major regeneration project aimed at delivering 23,000 high quality homes, 9,000 employment opportunities and sustainable travel infrastructure. She also worked across two counties and three district councils, collaborating with many private sector partners and community groups to deliver significant strategic growth.
Claire has previously worked for Harlow, East Herts, Epping Forest and Basildon Council and the London Boroughs of Waltham Forest, Ealing and Brent as well as a number of London-based Housing Associations.
The Leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr Kam Rai, said: “Claire’s extensive experience, proven track record of strong leadership and innovation, and understanding of the needs and aspirations of our community will be invaluable and made her the outstanding candidate for us to appoint. As Redbridge moves forward, all of us will focus on building on the borough’s successes, and I look forward to welcoming Claire and working with her."
Claire's background spans housing development, estate regeneration, economic development, strategic planning, and community engagement, among other areas.
In her new role, Claire will focus on advancing Redbridge's regeneration program, prioritising housing delivery and fostering a positive, inclusive culture within the Council. As a local resident, Claire is excited to contribute to Redbridge's ambitious future, ensuring the continued delivery of excellent services for the community.
Adrian Loades has been the Interim Chief Executive since November 2023 and will be retiring at the end of January next year. Cllr Rai said: “I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Adrian for his dedication and hard work in supporting the Council while we sought a permanent replacement. His outstanding leadership has been greatly appreciated and I wish him the very best.”
