Hainault Forest
Hainault Forest and the Forge
Our ambitious plans to preserve, protect and enhance Hainault Forest for future generations have received funding support from the Mayor’s Good Growth Fund and the National Lottery Heritage Fund with a project total of almost £7m.
We are undertaking a major redevelopment of Hainault Forest, restoring 300 acres of forest land into one of London's most significant natural spaces and Redbridge's most important visitor attractions. Driving tourism, local engagement and underpinned by a sustainable business plan, with skills, employment and learning opportunities, this project is a focal point for regeneration in Redbridge.
The Forge Centre will help renovate Hainault Forest's Fox Burrows Farm, a complex of Victorian barns, into a suite of micro-business workspaces for traditional craft artisans, supporting local economic growth and community benefit. The project will also involve the restoration of other built structures within the Forest and the nationally significant ecology of its trees, woodlands and meadows, ensuring its preservation for years to come.
